Sabrina walked into the arcade, grabbing her allowance of $10 from her pocket and setting it on a counter by the door, asking for the $10 in quarters. When she got that, the 14-year-old looked Alauri, filling a bite of annoyance when she didn't see her right off the bat. Where is she? Did she trick me so she could go to the Clans and attack CaveClan or something? Sabrina thought, almost scowling at the idea. If that girl had tricked her, oh, JungleClan would pay.

Alauri pushed open the arcade door and saw Sabrina's expression. [be]"I dropped my money outside,"[/be] she said sheepishly. She dug around in her pocket until she found it again. She had ten dollars as well. She had been saving it for a book, but the library had gotten it recently.

[be]"I won't lie, I was a bit worried for a second there."[/be] Sabrina said, deciding not to sugarcoat it; she didn't trust this girl, not one bit. Out of all the people she'd met in her days, there were only two people Sabrina had ever decided to trust, and of course, we can all guess who those two are: Ixie and Elek. [be]"So, then, got any challenge for me? Good at Pac-Man or maybe one of those space games?"[/be]

The girl shrugged. She would have been, too. [be]"Let's try Pac-Man,"[/be] she said. She wasn't very good at video games, but she'd give it a shot. She searched for the game before walking over to it.

Sabrina wasn't too accustomed to very old games like this, but her ego wouldn't let her say anything about it. Grabbing the right side of the machine, she popped a quarter into the slot and waited before pressing the button to begin, [be]"Ready?"[/be] The game's screen was split in two, for two players, obviously, and the 14-year-old was more than prepared to start playing a video game.

It took the twelve-year-old a moment to remember the controls, but she eventually figured it out. She slid a quarter into the machine. [be]"Ready,"[/be] she told Sabrina.

Sabrina pressed the 'Play' button and focused only on her screen. After years of playing multiplayer games with Phoenix, she was good at keeping her eyes trained on only her side of the screen.
Within a few minutes, Sabrina had lost a life, and thus had only two lives left. Stupid ghost. She thought in annoyance at this, grinding her teeth. Sabrina wondered how Alauri was doing, but didn't bother to check, in the event that she'd lose another life as a result.

Alauri had one life left, but other than that, she was doing okay. She was determined to win. She finally set into the game. Her eyes became focused and she twitched her hand expertly to avoid danger. She smiled. Not bad for only having one life, she thought.

Sabrina kept going. Two left. Two left. She started with three, lost one, had two left. This was no time to be thinking about how she'd lost a life. Sabrina might jinx herself into losing another life by thinking about it, by not paying attention because she was getting more and more lost in thought. Sabrina let out a [be]"Ha."[/be] when she collected a special dot, the ghosts became transparent, allowing her to kill them. However, sadly, this didn't last long, and Sabrina was only able to get two out of the many ghosts destroyed, before they were back to chasing her.

Sabrina's shout made Alauri jump and jerk the joystick. Her final life was gone and she moaned in disappointment. [be]"You win,"[/be] she sighed, glancing at the other girl's screen.

Sabrina had completely blocked out her surroundings, without even meaning to, at that! She was almost on level two, though she had lost another life, leaving her with only one. The high school student played as if it were her career, trying her best to win the level. Her mouth was tightly closed, and her eyes were narrowed in concentration.

Alauri suppressed a giggle. [be]"You would think your life depended on winning that game,"[/be] she said quietly to Sabrina. Her eyes traced the other girl's moves. She had to admit, her skill was impressive.

Sabrina jolted back into reality, losing her last game life, and rubbing her eyes. "Did you say anything? If you did, I missed it." She almost added 'sorry', but felt that would be way too out of character for herself, so she left it at that. "Did I win?" Sabrina asked, pretending like she didn't already know. Why would Alauri be standing there instead of playing if she had won? After all, Sabrina would've had to lose first.

She rolled her dark brown eyes. [be]"Of course you won."[/be] She felt like saying 'It's your fault I lost,' but she didn't. She looked around for another game. Was there anything that relied on chance or a game she was really good at? None that she could see.

Sabrina couldn't force herself to keep a straight face. She smirked, thoroughly amused by the girl's reaction to her words once again. A sort of smug look it was that Sabrina had then, really. "Hmm.. They have some new games installed, but I'm not sure how good you'll be at them."
